Open fixed-term position is available for a research assistant in data science.

The research group focuses on computational modeling of complex biological, ecological and social systems, and the development of computational infrastructures in these areas. The research assistant will contribute to ongoing collaboration projects of the research team, supervised by associate prof. Leo Lahti (Data science; Department of Future Technologies).

We expect
independence, collaborative attitude, analytical skills, and motivation to work in an interdisciplinary team on the applications of scientific computing. Background in relevant fields, such as mathematics, statistics, physics, ecology, (bio)informatics, computer science, or other relevant field, and experience on scientific programming will considered an advantage. Fluency in English is a necessary requirement. Undergraduate students with a high-level study record and enrolled in a Finnish university are encouraged to apply. The work will develop capabilities for doctoral studies. The job is full-time, but part-time work is also possible by mutual agreement. The work will start as soon as possible according to the agreement, preferably as early as October 1, 2020. The duration of the employment is four (4) months, but further opportunities may be discussed during the employment.


The salaries are determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. For a research assistant the salary will be on level 1 on the job demands chart, where the task specific salary component is 1869,13 euros per month. In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal performance component is a 6% - 50% of the task-specific salary component. 


A two (2) month trial period applies to the position.
