ZenRobotics applies Artificial Intelligence and smart robotic systems to drastically change recycling of waste globally. Intelligent robotic systems can identify and classify waste into high purity materials suitable for re-use in industry. The company is based in Helsinki and currently employs 60 passionate employees. Our first generation of systems are intensively used by pioneering facilities globally, and we pursue wide adoption over the next years. 

Our ZenRobotics family is growing and we are looking for a Head of Software to join our team. This is a new key position in our R&D organisation. You will be able to use your experience to shape the function and ways of working in an agile world-class R&D environment. 

About the role

In this role you will be responsible for leading and coaching our software development. We have 13 high talent software professionals in our teams currently. The work will allow you to understand the product context and be in the core breakthrough innovations. The development environment is fast-moving and includes the full stack of technologies from RGB cameras and spectrographs to realtime PLCs and machine learning to cloud databases and web frontends. You are accountable for SW and its quality, processes/wow, and for helping people and teams to develop and use their strengths. 

You make sure everyone in teams knows their targets and goals and help succeed in their daily operations and tasks. You collaborate with other functions with the aspiration of winning teams that extend beyond one skill. As the role is new, you get to start by building your role and related processes in the Software organisation. This position reports to the VP of R&D.

What it takes to succeed in this role

To succeed in this role, you would need to have at least 5 years of similar working experience with strong technical understanding and you are able to lead technical experts. You have a proven track record of successful software development projects and leading software teams. You have worked in an Agile environment before (Scrum, SAFe) preferably in different roles. As a person you are open minded and a team player, who loves to coach co-workers.
