We are looking for an energetic Communications Specialist to join our Stakeholder Relations team to contribute to the success of UPM operations in Pietarsaari, Finland. This vacancy is temporary starting in February and ending on the 31st of July 2021.

UPM is one of the world's leading producers of northern softwood, birch and eucalyptus pulp. We supply global customers in end use segments such as tissue, specialty and packaging as well as printing and writing papers, and board, through our own sales and technical service network close to customers. UPM Pulp operates four modern pulp mills in Finland and Uruguay, as well as eucalyptus plantations in Uruguay. UPM Pulp employs approximately 1,800 people. Annual pulp production capacity is 3.7 million tonnes. In 2019 we started the construction of a 2.1 million tonne/year greenfield eucalyptus pulp mill near Paso de los Toros in central Uruguay. The mill is scheduled to start up in the second half of 2022. Pulp Business is part of the UPM Biorefining Business Area which combines the integrated production of pulp, timber and biofuels with a synergistic supply chain of wood raw materials. www.upmpulp.com

What you’ll do

• You’ll manage and develop UPM Pietarsaari’s internal and external communications ensuring up-to-date communication in line with communication plans and business strategies as well as UPM brand and values 
• You’ll manage and execute various internal and external communications projects and processes ranging from employee and safety communications to crisis communications and local media relations  
• You’ll strongly contribute to the employer image of UPM Pietarsaari with planned actions and actively engaging with local and regional students, educational institutes, and schools 
• You’ll actively contribute to the team’s success and continuous improvement by actively sharing plans and ideas within the team 

Who you are

• You have at least two years' relevant experience and a degree in communications or marketing
• You have experience in websites, photo and basic video editing, and social media management
• You are a well organised team player with the capability to quickly adapt to changing situations
• You have excellent writing skills in Finnish and English
