We are looking for a Patent Engineer to join out Intellectual Asset Management team.

The location for this position is Helsinki.

Responsibilities:
The work includes creation and updating the IP strategy within the area of responsibility and training the respective organisation in disclosing inventions and communicating the IP Strategic targets to the organisation, evaluating the patentability of inventions, drafting and prosecuting patent applications together with external patent agents of Wärtsilä globally and managing the patent portfolio according to strategy agreed with business.

Requirements:
The preferable background for the person to be chosen is including technical education, good language skills in English and knowledge about technologies developed in Wärtsilä.

Successful performance of position-related task requires open and innovative mindset, skills in organising the work including continuous flow of tasks requiring actions, capability to make independently decisions which affect business of Wärtsilä for years to come, will of learning to evaluate the novelty and inventiveness of technical solutions and learning patent legislation and practices at the same time cooperating with inventors R&D Managers and external patent agents.
