F-Secure is currently looking for a software engineer to join our global team. The successful candidate will help to deliver our Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service, Countercept, which defends organisations against targeted cyber attacks. The MDR development team designs and develops technology for our internal operations teams.

We are looking for a skilled senior software engineer to work on a data processing platform that can ingest and process large quantities of data efficiently and reliably at scale. This new platform will align with the microservices architecture that the rest of Countercept platform is based on.

Job Duties….

• Turn high-level functional and non-functional requirements into detailed technical requirements and define an architecture which will meet them.

• Lead engineering of an efficient, scalable and highly-available data pipeline.

• Implement and enforce good software engineering processes, from design through to QA.

• Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams within MDR – DevOps, Platform Management, Detection & Response Team

• Be mentored and mentor other developers on web, back-end and data storage technologies and our system.

• Constantly re-evaluate our product to improve architecture, user experience, performance and stability.

• Be an energetic ‘self-starter’ with the ability to take ownership and be accountable for deliverables.

You’ll use…

• Open source components, e.g. Apache Kafka
• The ElasticSearch stack
• AWS
• Languages: Python, Go, Java, Rust
• CI/CD technologies, e.g. Terraform and Docker

What we are looking for…

• 3+ years' experience in software engineering – but we’re open to less!
• Full Software Development Life Cycle experience with two or more end-to-end product deliveries

• Experience using networking protocols such as TCP, DNS, SSL/TLS and HTTPS

• Familiarity with fundamental security concepts such as certificates and encryption

• Degree educated, with at least a 2.1 in a numerate subject such as Computer Science, Maths, Engineering

• Innovative mindset, to work on unique solutions to common problems

• Ability to grasp the inner workings and philosophy of the F-Secure Countercept service

Bonus points….

• Experience developing data processing solutions for a security product
• Experience developing solutions using AWS and AWS-native services
• Experience with security products such as firewalls, proxies and VPN’s
