University of Helsinki offers a Trainee Programme for our international master students. You are eligible to apply if you are an international student enrolled in a University of Helsinki master programme.

We are now looking for a TRAINEE in Global Politics and Communications (GPC).

The duration of a traineeship is 1 September to 31 December 2021 (four months) of part-time (50%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €700 per month for a part-time (50%) trainee.

This trainee will work directly on a team with the Programme Director to create a GPC programme blog and other public facing website interfaces between GPC students and the public. The goal is to launch a variety of content forms which include but are not limited to a blog, GPC new, voluntarily archived MA theses, a book review series, student testimonials, and internship reports. The website will serve to showcase student work, provide public access to better knowing the GPC program, and building a loyal network of GPC alumni. Work will begin by an assessment of development possibilities by consulting with GPC students and faculty, and exploring examples from comparable programs. Once specific developmental goals are identified, a priority order and steps to realization will be created with the Programme Director. Each potential communicative element will be initially designed with a blueprint subject to GPC Steering Board approval. With relevant faculty an plan will be agreed to in October, and then the trainee will implement the communicative platforms with the assistance of a UH approved website developer. Jumpstarting a blog, digital thesis archive, and book review series will require editorial and curating skills.

Valued skills are multitasking and setting priorities, working with a diverse interest base, meeting deadlines, conducting research, imaginative platform development, experience initiating and completing multi-partner projects. Note this position requires strong editorial and writing skills which must be demonstrated to qualify.
