Smart Technology Hub (STH), located in Vaskiluoto, Vaasa, will be the World-class Hub also for Smart Component Production and will be the forerunner for Production and Lifecycle support of key components of Wärtsilä products. The level of technology and complexity for assembly process will be on the most sophisticated level in the Nordics in our sector, thus is critical to have a resource that could go through design and properly set them to be efficiently assembled. Manufacturing Excellence design for manufacturing team is the organization in charge to boost and drive this transformation in manufacturing domain from technology, simulation and assembly process point of view.

In this frame and to secure the Quality and Cost awareness of new products, we are searching for a Design for Manufacturing expert to be a Design Engineer to extend the current expertise in Manufacturing Excellence organisation and to integrate with our Research, Development & Engineering team. This role is crucial for analysing designs and creating proper processes from assembly and system of view to secure design for manufacturing is taken into account and first proto pilots are achieved with zero wastes.

Location: The position is to be filled in Vaasa, Finland. 

Responsibilities:

• Co-operation and involvement in product development projects to secure the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for the new products, components and secure updates of design that will improve assembly.
• Planning the assembly methods and processes for new products, assembly time calculations & simulation, conceptualize tools and other needed equipment, communicating these forward to the different stakeholders.
• Documenting and implementing the needed changes to the production process using agreed tools.
• Updating the manufacturing processes with correct data (Work instructions, 3D simulations, Time studies & PFMEA's)
• Participating the new NPI (New Product Introduction) projects as a team member by giving support and feedback about assembly process as well as bringing up the development ideas

Expectations:

• BSc or MSc in Engineering
• Practical competence and experience from manufacturing technologies and LEAN principles
• A can-do positive approach and self-going attitude
• An eye for details and a systematic approach 
• Good writing and communication skills
• Good team working ability and skills
• Systematic and organized way of working and problem-solving skills
• IT-skills such as MS Office are expected, SAP skills as benefit. Also Teamcenter experience is appreciated.
• Language skills: English, Finnish, other languages are seen as an advantage.
