We are looking for a Data Scientist to contribute to our global Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) and Port Management Information Systems (PMIS) product lines.
Using data from a variety of sources, including navigation data on vessel movements, port schedules, weather data and other sources, we develop AI services that provide information for the next-generation system, enabling a new level of safety and decarbonization, while improving operational efficiency.
The preferred location for the position is in Helsinki, Finland.
As Data Scientist, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Conceptualizing and specifying solution requirements together with business stakeholders
- Formalizing tasks and researching different approaches to solve it
- Design and develop machine learning applications and algorithms
- Build and optimize machine learning pipelines
- Mathematical background: statistics and understanding of classical machine learning algorithms
- Experience in software development in Python
- Machine learning stack ( NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Pytorch)
- Web application stack ( Fastapi/Flask)
- Strong ability to communicate abstract concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications/ nice to have:
- Familiarity with geospatial data
- Data engineering experience
- Experience with Azure cloud services (blob storage, functions, ml pipelines)
- Challenging tasks require strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in the maritime industry, particularly in port operations or maritime logistics, is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of supply chain and logistics practices is also beneficial.
