Energy Business Global Sales Management is part of the Strategy and Business development function and has the ownership and responsibility leading global account management and strategic partnerships, drives development and management of sales competencies and customer experience, provides technical sales support. We also have the ownership of Energy Business opportunity and pipeline management, sales processes, tools and way of working.

General Manager, Sales and operational planning
In this role you will be working in close co-operation with all Areas and Business Units. You will report to Director, Global Sales Management. Preferred location for the position is Finland, but all other Wärtsilä locations are also possible.

We expect you to be an experienced, driven and results oriented change leader. You lead and facilitate our sales and operational planning activities with long-mid-short-term perspective and drive related capabilities across Energy Business. You will create robust processes, governance structures and ways of working for transparent demand and supply planning, opportunity prioritisation, efficient use of resources and identification of changes in forecasting. You will act as the link between sales leaders, supply management and top management to build a seamless business view globally. You will act as a team leader for commercial support activities.
Your main responsibilities are:
• Establish and lead Sales & Operations planning (S&OP) practice with related processes and governance structure in our Energy Business
• Develop, manage and lead long-mid-short-term sales and operations planning for Energy Business, engine power plant business as first-priority
• Help facilitate executive decision-making and monthly and quarterly reviews, assessing impact of market demand on our operations
• Collaborate across departments and functions e.g. with our operations, supply management and sales leaders globally to ensure alignment on demand drivers
• Set-up required capabilities and organisational structures, provide training and coaching to internal stakeholders and lead the change required
• Identify development opportunities, lead improvement projects as necessary and drive change across the whole Energy Business
• Support in design, development and implementation of needed IT systems and data management
• Support in development of our performance management & KPI framework to match requirements of the S&OP practice
Your success will be measured by:
• Combination of business growth, margin development and hit rate
• Forecasting accuracy
• Efficient resource utilisation in sales and sales support activities
• Profitability in terms of risks
• Pipeline development
An ideal candidate:
• Has solid experience in setting up a sales & operations planning practices in an engineering, technology or industrial environment and holds a proven track record of successful implementation of them
• Has strong track record in leading large and complex business transformation programmes and ability to see the big picture while slicing the development needs into actionable tasks
• Is experienced in building teams and capabilities into existing structures and leading cross-functional teams
• Is passionate leader with a strong drive for collaboration and influencing others
• Has rigorous planning, project management and process development skills
• Is comfortable in working with all organisational levels and networks fluently with executive top management all the way to operative level
• Has exceptional ability to utilise and combine data from various sources and solid skills in assessing, summarising and presenting conclusions based on data to ensure timely and efficient decision-making
• Offers coaching and mentoring to support Areas and other functions within Energy Business to enhance understanding of sales & operations planning and its importance in strategy execution
In addition, an ideal candidate:
•Comprehensive 10+ years of experience in sales, sales forecasting, demand planning and sales & operations planning
• Senior leadership experience in business transformation of sales and operations supply management
•Self-going, passionate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, paying attention to details
• Critical thinking, daring to challenge different views
• Inspires people to act towards the future goals and drives for results
• Has relevant education, such as B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Business /Economics/Engineering or similar
• Excellent English language (both orally and written) and communication skills
