POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER, BIOLOGY

The position will start on December 1^st at the earliest, or as agreed, for a fixed-term of 20 months.

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in the Behavioural and Evolutionary Ecology research group of Academy Research FellowBibiana Rojas. The project under which this position will be funded is, roughly, on the costs and benefits of larval cannibalism in a poison frog species and on the role of parental care in the regulation of this behaviour AND in pathogen spread. Within these umbrella ideas, we welcome the candidate’s own ideas, especially dealing with how aspects of global change (e.g., habitat alteration, climate change, etc.) may affect these processes. While the position is funded by the Academy of Finland, the hired person is expected to be based in Vienna, Austria.

You are the person we are looking for if you have a PhD degree in behavioural or evolutionary ecology, or related areas. Ideally, you should be willing to do a mix of molecular work and lab experiments, so experience with molecular techniques AND experimental design is highly desirable, and at least one of them is essential.  Above average statistical skills and a good publication record in relation to your academic stage are considered an asset. You are expected to have excellent written and oral communication skills, too.

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a Postdoctoral Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. A good command of English is required and a proficiency to teach in English will be considered beneficial. The PhD degree required for the position must have been completed before starting the position.

The annual salary range will be approximately 41,000 - 47,000 EUR (gross income, including holiday bonus), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
