Right now, we are looking for a Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer to strengthen our team working on products that turn mobile network data into actionable insights.

Telia Company has made a strategic bet on transforming itself into a data driven company. One critical step on that transformation journey is creating business value out of data that we have. Our Data Insights team has started this journey by launching a people movement insights offering in all Telia markets. Our Crowd Insights product makes use of Telia network based big data and analytics for producing strictly anonymized insights on people flows, creating customer value by enabling better informed business decisions in many industries.

As a Data Engineer, you will have a central role in implementing robust data pipelines and storage solutions that are capable of handling very large data sets – we currently handle over a billion data points per day. You will work with an international team of data scientists and data analysts, using your deep technical knowledge of distributed systems, large data warehouses and cloud architectures to to discover new insights in order to support existing and new Crowd Insights products.

The role includes, but is not limited to:

• Writing and deploying SQL queries that supports our data products.
• Setting up workflows and data pipelines for new data components, including advanced SQL joins.
• Deploying infrastructure as code
• Optimizing data processing pipelines
• Building and maintaining our API based product interfaces
• Investigating bugs in aggregates and deploying fixes.

The Data Insights team is at Division X, the emerging business division at Telia, promoting innovation and spearheading new business opportunities.

Your personal competencies:

• You are a collaborator, but you also enjoy taking on independent tasks. We do not micromanage - it goes against our DNA. Therefore, it’s important you can organize your own time, be committed, and to some capacity work with limited to no supervision.
• You are flexible to learn new skills and adapt to new technologies
• You are enthusiastic about combing through sometimes complex, structured and unstructured data.

Your experience:

• You have a good understanding of big data concepts, cloud technologies, data modeling, data governance, and BI presentation
• You have experience in cloud technologies like Google Cloud Platform, Big Query, Airflow and terraform. Knowledge of other cloud stacks, specifically Microsoft Azure, is a plus.
• You have solid SQL and Python skills and can write clean, performance-optimized queries.
• You have relevant experience developing and maintaining efficient ETL workflows, can navigate through complex scripts and workflows, and can make enhancements or code fixes, if needed
• Full professional verbal and written proficiency in English is a requirement.
