We are now looking for a Senior Specialist, Product Stewardship to a new position in our Responsibility team in Helsinki or Tampere. Other UPM locations in Europe can be considered.

What you’ll do

Our global presence and growth in new business areas create many opportunities but also challenges for us. Chemicals and chemicals management have become an increasingly important topic due to new end use areas and related regulations. Forthcoming biomolecular businesses will take need of expertise to the next level. The purpose of this job is to provide advisory and develop capabilities in chemicals management and use of safe and sustainable chemicals.

In this position, you will:

  • Provide advisory on chemicals, chemicals regulations and management related questions across UPM’s businesses and functions
  • Develop and coordinate use of safe and sustainable chemicals together with UPM’s businesses and functions
  • Develop and contribute to UPM’s guidelines/policies related to chemicals, external reporting, and communications
  • Participate in Product Stewardship team tasks related to, for example, product safety and development of sustainable products
  • Represent UPM in collaboration forums and other events towards external partners and key stakeholders
  • Support UPM Business areas in REACH registrations and have a role of an internal expert in chemicals regulations

Who you are

  • You have a desire to advance chemicals management and safe use of chemicals in a complex and international business environment
  • Have a university degree in chemistry or chemical engineering (M. Sc. or PhD)
  • You have thorough and current knowledge of chemical regulations, safe use of chemicals and preferably expertise on wood chemistry, paper chemistry or polymer chemistry
  • You have minimum 3 years of working experience in industry or in other relevant background
  • You have ability to analyse and understand research and to identify relevant and valuable information
  •  You are an effective collaborator and engager with good interpersonal, influencing and networking skills. Working in matrix organization feels natural to you
  • You have good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • You have good organizational skills, and you sustain pressure
