General Manager, Marketing Communications

The GM Marketing Communications will join and lead our passionate and forward-thinking Marketing Communications team and you will be a part of our innovative Marine Power marketing team.
You will help us to attract, engage and delight our audience by driving our story-telling both in its emotionally engaging content as well as in its delivery; in order to position our business and brand as the go-to subject matter expert of choice, and thought leader on all aspects of decarbonisation.
The preferred locations for the position are in western Europe although other locations will be considered for the right candidate.

What will you be doing?
As our ideal candidate, you will be a natural leader with strong media connections and positioning experience. You will be able to demonstrate an excellent command of the English language, inspiring story-telling abilities, along with the willingness, experience and know-how to coach and lead others in your Team.
We hope that you will be a digitally minded, inbound marketer, who will create inspiring marketing concepts and communication plans spanning across our online and offline channels. You understand the digital landscape, translate ideas from initial concept to inspiring and highly engaging messaging, leveraging the latest trending topics, discussions and technologies. You have a successful track record of building creative communication and will apply this experience in order to help us cut through clutter, own mind-share, grow share of voice and earn media attention and respect.
As a GM Marketing Communications, Positioning your work will focus on:
• Hands-on team leadership and coaching for the Marine Power Marketing Comms Team
• Develop and oversee an integrated Marketing Comms strategy for MP Messaging and Thought Leadership
• Manage Marketing Comms plans, themes, campaigns and promotions, team process & budget
• Manage external agencies and media relations
• Develop, create, and deploy themes, key messages, and impressive, emotionally engaging storytelling and content to help us own mindshare, and keep us top of mind
• Lead our thought leadership initiative from a messaging and communications point of view
• Report on the impact of Marketing Comms, campaigns and deliver actionable insights to the rest of the team
• Work closely other critical functions and groups to develop and deploy messaging and content for both market shaping and demand generation campaigns
• Support and work closely with the rest of the Marketing and Sales organisation within Marine Power, sitting within the Marine Power Marketing Management Team
Your success will be measured by four key indicators:
• Earned media
• Share of voice
• MQLs
• Subscriber database and follower growth
The below will enable you to shine in this role:
• Extensive experience in Marketing Communications and Positioning
• BA/BSc in Marketing Communications, Advertising, Journalism, Creative Writing or related degree, or equivalent combination of education experience
• Experience in crafting targeted content and messages that drive engagement, and generate measurable results
• Proven ability to plan and manage budgets
• Proficiency in measuring and reporting on the progress of initiatives against goals at every digital and/or physical touchpoint
• Strategic thinking
• Experience managing hard deadlines with a proven ability to handle pressure and stress effectively
• Confident, driven, inspiring and dynamic - you will be an effective communicator and leader who is not afraid to be bold, take calculated risks and be an enabler of change and innovation
• Collaborative team leader with a high degree of initiative, drive, accountability, judgment, innovation, creativity and flexibility
• Successful experience working with cross-functional teams and multiple departments
• Appreciation of cultural differences, working across a Global market
