Would you like to work among some of the most amazing cruise ships in the world? Become part of one of the world's strongest shipbuilding teams!

Family-owned Meyer Turku Oy specializes in building advanced, innovative and environmentally friendly cruise ships, which are built at only a few shipyards worldwide. Ships have been successfully built in Turku since 1737 and the story continues.

Our subsidiaries include the cabin factory Piikkio Works Oy, Shipbuilding Completion Oy, the supplier of ship interior areas, and the design company ENG’nD Oy. Together with our sister shipyards, Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, and Neptun Werft in Rostock, we are one of the world’s leading cruise ship builders. We are constantly working more closely with our sister shipyards, and many of our employees work shorter or longer periods in Germany as well.

We are now looking for Head of Procurement Department to be responsible for the purchasing of machinery and electrical systems and indirect procurement.

What are the responsibilities of the Head of Department?

The department is responsible for procurement of the ship’s machinery system, related equipment and all systems located in the machine rooms, the ship’s electrical systems, and deck machinery and equipment. In addition, the department manages the turnkey delivery of machine and electrical units, indirect procurement and delivery control.

As Head of Department, you will be responsible for the department’s operations complying with set budgets and timelines, as well as operational and administrative management of a team of purchasers. In your role, you will also be accountable for developing the cooperation both internally within different shipyard functions and externally between the supplier network and the shipyard.

What do we expect from you?

We are looking for someone with a suitable educational background in a technical field (MSc/BSc level), and several years of experience in similar duties in manufacturing or project industry.

We hope that you have a good understanding in total costs of purchasing solutions, and know how to utilize the potential of IT systems in procurement. To succeed in the role, you need to have good collaborative and communication skills, and be a goal-oriented negotiator (also in English).

We also hope that you have previous experience in successfully leading groups of innovative experts, and the ability to develop new procurement packages and supplier networks. The role requires good knowledge of laws and regulations related to subcontracting business and universally binding collective agreements.

We offer

Meyer’s long and reliable history in shipbuilding guarantees a positive outlook for your career in international shipbuilding industry.

At the shipyard, you become a part of an inspiring work community where we work as a team with passion for large projects. With us, you have the opportunity for professional development in many ways. There are a lot of interesting assignments in our company, and with the training provided by our shipbuilding school, you will further expand your skills.

In this community, you can become the world’s best expert in your profession!

The well-being of our employees, both at work and in their free time, is important to us. The yard's occupational health station offers employees a wide range of health services right outside the yard's gates. The yard's gym and Meyer volleyball, basketball and floorball groups guarantee things to do for your free time. We also support your own hobbies with Smartum-benefit.

When the ship leaves the shipyard, you can be really proud of it! Even for many non-shipbuilders, it is a moment of pride.
