My name is Kim Ervasti, and I lead Software and Automation Development team. My team is full of talented developers and great people. Together we support our organization’s needs in software and automation development. Now we are looking for a Software Developer Summer Trainee to join our team in Helsinki for the summer.

Your next challenge?

As a Software Developer Trainee, you will join our team to familiarize yourself on professional practices of Software Development. You already have programming experience from your educational background or hobby activities, and now it is time to put that knowledge into use and start closing the gap between how you have done programming earlier, and how it is done in a professional Software Development team, in a corporate environment. You already have heard that quality and security demands in corporate life are high, and now you will have a standpoint to see just how tall the skyscraper really is.

You will be part of a motivated team with a great spirit and open work culture with very little bureaucracy. One key factor for motivation is very diverse roles and skill sets needed on daily basis, and a wide visibility throughout the entire organization. The awesome thing about this is that in addition to Software Development practices, you will also learn a lot from the business!

Who are you?

You already have background from programming either by education, hobby background or hopefully from both. You know all the basics of programming, good design patterns, basics on code quality. You also understand and have some experience from other stages of software engineering practices, such as defining and designing a software, testing, and documenting the software.

Our development environment is Java + Spring boot based microservices platform with more than 50 services. We focus on React + Redux in frontend, and MySQL or MongoDB in database. We manage and ease our work with Azure Devops, Git, Maven, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker to list a few.

Our ideal candidate has:

• Experience and good skill set in Java
• Interest in backend development, since most of the work is there. Basic understanding of Spring boot, APIs, Json/Rest, Git and microservices is important for backend development
• Basic understanding of frontends like React
• Basic experience in Linux based operating systems
• Basic knowledge about Sql/NoSql databases, and experience in using one
• Basic understanding of UML or BPMN
• Knowing basics of API and automation development in Azure is a plus
• Fluent Finnish, Good English. We work mostly in Finnish
• An ongoing education path towards Software development or similar area
• Desire to grow and learn new
