We are looking for an experienced Director, Project Management to lead our European projects. In this role you will report to VP, Area Africa & Europe and you will be a member of Area AFEU MT.  Location of the role is open, but preferably one of our key locations in Europe. 

You will work in a close collaboration with the Energy business Project Management Office and other functions in central Project Management organisation. In addition, you report in a matrix to Project Management VP and will be a member of the Project Management MT.

In this role your main mission is to lead project teams to successfully execute the projects engine power plant projects in Europe.

Your key responsibilities are to:

• Lead, manage and develop project teams and Europe project team based on business strategies and Project Management methodology
• Ensure that the projects are implemented according to plan and to the quality standards agreed with our customers
• Lead the workload and ensure the wellbeing of the projects teams
• Coordinate activities between other parts of the organisation in issues related to European project portfolio and ensure recovery services are in place when needed
• Create action plan for own organization according to Project Management and business strategies and ensure implementation
• Assign resources to the projects in his/her organisation and approve Project Charters and ensure projects have the needed competences
• Monitor, analyse and report the status of his/her project portfolio and ensure that projects fulfil stakeholder expectations
• Manage and lead the team of Project Managers in Europe
• Participate in customer negotiations and in customer relations management

• Ensure alignment with Wärtsilä policies, processes and guidelines
• Communicate and drive development needs in Project Management throughout the organization
• Develop project delivery structures supporting positive margin development

An ideal candidate has:

• M.Sc or B.Sc degree in Engineering or Economy or equivalent
• Extensive understanding and hand-on experience of complex Project and Portfolio Management in international project business
• Profound experience and proven track record in risk management and legal & contractual understanding
• Strong Energy business understanding in international project management in complex projects
• Strong international market & customer understanding 
• Strong business mindset, excellent communication skills and analytical approach to problem-solving with related technical capabilities, cooperation skills across functions and businesses in a matrix setting
• Commitment and enthusiasm to drive an organisation, ability to engage people with strong team work attitude
