We are Elisa Patents, a team supporting all Elisa units in patent related matters as a part of Elisa Legal and IPR department.

We are looking for a Patent Engineer to support Elisa's domestic and international patent activities. Elisa is one of the most active patent applicants in Finland for the third year in a row. In 2021 Elisa was ranked 6th among the domestic companies with the highest number of patent applications in Finland.

As a Patent Engineer you would work in close co-operation with Elisa's different business units as well as our external patent attorneys. You would work in a rapidly changing and international environment where you have excellent opportunities to develop your expertise and strengthen Elisa's patent activities and innovation culture.

This is the best place to be for a patent professional, as you’ll be working with all patent matters, from inventions to enforcement.

Responsibilities:

• Engaging with personnel to identify protectable aspects of their every-day work products
• Evaluating patentability of received invention reports
• Advising and training business units in patent rights and other IPR related matters
• Reviewing and analyzing competitor patents
• Coordinating work with Elisa's external patent agencies

Skills:

In this role the following skills will help you succeed:

• A Master's or equivalent degree, giving you a solid base to understand data analyses, telco networks, predictive modeling techniques, as well as good overview of emerging methodologies like AI and machine learning
• Several years of experience in wireless communication, computer implemented methods, automation or SW technologies
• Earlier patent engineer work experience and commitment to learn patent processes and legal aspects particularly appreciated
• Excellent interaction and communication skills, as well as the ability to cooperate and operate at different levels of the organization
• The ability to work in a solution-oriented and business-oriented manner
• Fluent written and verbal English communication skills
