Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a Supplier Development & Quality Manager, Energy Storage and Optimization for the Energy Storage & Optimization business in the Power Conversion System(PCS) area. The role will be part of the Supply Management group. This position can either be based in Helsinki, Turku or Vaasa, Finland.

What will you be doing?

For the global Energy Storage supplier base, the Supplier Development & Quality Manager, Energy Storage and Optimization is accountable for the product quality assurance and control at suppliers as well as for suppliers compliance and continuous improvement of performance in terms of quality, delivery accuracy, lead time reduction, and productivity improvements to ensure conformance with product and project requirements as well as first time right deliveries.

As a Supplier Development & Quality Manager, Energy Storage and Optimization your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Participates in product teams with cross-functional team members to qualify and improve supplier manufacturing processes and inspection methods
  • Continuously improve suppliers and mitigate potential risks to achieve targets and collaborates in supplier development programs, as well as driving their performance by building and establishing effective correction and improvement actions
  • Take ownership and action on Quality, Delivery and Cost activities utilizing defined Supplier Development tools for PCS suppliers
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, and procedures on supplied components and supplier manufacturing processes
  • Organize and lead operational excellence initiatives at suppliers to support cost reduction and supplier performance improvement
  • Lead a SDE and a SQE for PCS suppliers

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

  • 5+ years experience of Power Conversion System (PCS), Inverters, transformers, and Switch gears, in Product Management, Technology, Supplier Development or Quality experience in Grid power systems
  • Able to trouble shoot and solve problems on the manufacturing line
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and are capable of interfacing with numerous parties at all levels in a multicultural environment.
  • Familiar with analytical techniques commonly used to investigate component defects and ability to deal with administrative as well as technical tasks.

  • Strong solution-oriented approach, capability to implement and persistency to follow-up activities in order to ensure sustainability and quality
  • Willing to travel 30% of the time
  • You possess excellent English (both orally and written)
