We are looking for an experienced hands-on backend software architect to work with large scale, distributed & cloud native systems. If you enjoy solving problems related to scalability, efficiency and work with the latest cloud native technologies, this position is for you! This work requires an iterative mindset to work and plan incrementally towards a desired end-state. Balancing short-term gains and long- term goals is essential.

Your role is to facilitate, align, and lead the technical work of multiple senior technical teams. Building security, scalability, and simplicity into the designs is particularly important. Your role also requires coaching, leadership, and excellent stakeholder communications. You need to make sure that stakeholder requirements are always taken into account and the teams buy into and understand the design consistently. In this role, you will coach the teams on how to build better software.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitating and coordinating design activities within Detection & Response backend domain in a multi team environment.
• Close collaboration with Detection & Response lead architect and architecture forum members.
• Collaboration with architects of other domains
• Hands-on contribution to development. Making & reviewing code changes. Readiness to lead key development activities.
• Support developers in making good design choices by using your experience in software development.
• Promote good Software Engineering and DevOps practices and coach the team to improve them.
• Keep system architecture and related documentation in sync.
• Participating in day-to-day operations in teams to lead them hands-on from the DevOps front line, when necessary.

What are we looking for?

• Extensive experience in dev and ops of backend software
• Extensive hands-on experience of multiple AWS services
• Experience in designing, documenting, facilitating, and communicating architecture choices.
• Experience in developing with Python / TypeScript / Java
• Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases and understanding when to use which
• Great communication and facilitation skills. Ability to express yourself concisely, whilst capturing the essential and relevant elements, also for non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of good software development practices
• Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices
• Understanding of IaaC
• Security mindset

• Experience with stream & ETL processing
• Understanding of Machine Learning concepts and capabilities
