Wärtsilä's API management platform hosts hundreds of internal APIs which provide information to thousands of users through millions of requests each month. Data and results of analytical models delivered by APIs are at the heart of the data-driven decarbonization in marine and energy markets.

We are now looking for a Manager, API Platform & Service to take the service to the next level by improving the onboarding and usability for end users and promoting the available data assets.

The position is offered with a permanent basis and can be located in Vaasa, Helsinki or Turku, Finland. Other Wärtsilä locations may also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Make data easily available with flexible and secure authentication methods
  • Support API consumers in connecting their applications to the right APIs
  • Guide API developers and maintainers to make their APIs easy to use
  • Assist API owners in the lifecycle management of their APIs
  • Ensure high availability and smooth operation of the API platform
  • Monitor API traffic and notify stakeholders about failures and bad performance
  • Improve the API platform based on user feedback, design self-service processes, and lead the development
  • Increase the discoverability of existing APIs and promote their usage
  • Cooperate closely with data and technical architects to define, promote, and implement best practices
  • Define a strategy for making selected APIs publicly available

You will shine in this role if you have:

  • Education: M.Sc. in Information Technology, Computer Science, or an equivalent
  • Excellent English skills in written and verbal communication, good presentation skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills plus a proactive and positive attitude
  • Service design and continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Hands-on experience of working with APIs
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies like scrum
  • Practical experience with Azure API Management is seen as a strong plus
