Siemens EDA are currently looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our Veloce(R) X-STEP(TM) R&D Team. The role is to develop software for the Veloce X-STEP products and related integrations with other Veloce products in collaboration with rest of the development team. What role will you play? As a Senior developer You will design, implement, test and debug features on our software and hardware products. Your daily work is done around our Application Programming Interface (API) which is used to control features our hardware and firmware provides, and Protocol engine which is the core of our test tools. Naturally there are other software blocks, starting from Linux boot up, Operating System, other related software components to Graphical User Interfaces. It's part of the teams work to ensure all these blocks work well together. Our software developers design features together with the team, consisting of Architect, Firmware developers, Test engineers and other Software developers. We expect some of the following: You are eager to learn new; technologies (coding, telecom protocols), methodologies (such as DevOps) etc. Plan and document your design (usually together with other designers), let others review it and then implement it. Contribute working code, provide constructive feedback in form of code reviews for peers and help develop the team’s ways of working. Good communication and collaboration skills (both written and verbal) proven through software documentation (commit messages, code comments, etc), collecting customer requirements, and presenting with team members on daily basis. You share what you learn, help others to achieve their goals, learn best practices from your peers, and understand when to ask for help. Ability to work independently with little supervision and take initiative to find your next task. Able to seek solution with others if priorities are in unclear. You just make things happen! Experience from Software development using C/C++ and python technologies Development work with embedded hardware devices or high speed serial interfaces, e.g. bring ups, debugging etc. Development of protocols and interpreting specifications, such as IEEE, 3GPP, RFC. This position is to be filled as soon as possible on a permanent contract and is based in Oulu, Finland.
