Special education teacher position form 29.8.2022-31.7.2023 in Turku International School

Turku International School is a vibrant and innovative community. It is the only school in the Turku region that offers education entirely in English. The Turku International School has about 300 students, of which about 250 are in basic education and about 50 are students in the upper secondary school (IB Diploma Programme). The school operates in connection with Turun normaalikoulu, which is the Teacher Training School of the University of Turku.

In addition to the teacher's qualification, the applicant is required to have two years of full-time work experience after graduation, as well as proficiency in English in accordance with the Section 9 (2) of the Decree on the Qualification Requirements for Teaching Staff. In addition, the job requires knowledge of Finnish at a mother tongue level.

We are looking for an applicant into our development-friendly work community who has experience working in an international and multicultural environment. Applicant´s work experience in primary school is considered as an advantage. The work environment requires a flexible attitude towards work, good co-operation skills and a desire for continuous development of one's own work. It is hoped that the applicant has interest in mentoring international teacher trainees and in educational export. 

Task-specific pay is determined according to the difficulty level 6 in the remuneration system of the university teacher training schools. In addition, a pay component based on personal performance is paid, which is 6-50% of the task-specific salary component.

The closing date for applications is 23.8.2022 (at 23:59). There is a five-month probationary period. Before starting the work, the person selected for the position must present to the employer for inspection an acceptable criminal records extract required by the Act 504/2002.
