We are looking for a Financial & Market Analyst to support our Market and Project Development teams in Africa and Europe with skills, dedication and a sense of adventure. Possible locations for the position include Helsinki, Johannesburg, or Paris. 
 
Market Development and Project Development are key functions in implementing the Energy Business Strategy in the Africa and Europe area. Wärtsilä Energy Business conducts market development to generate future growth and open new markets for our technology and services. This is done by influencing key decision-makers of stakeholders and potential customers to increase the penetration of renewables and flexibility in their power systems. The Project Development team support the area sales functions by developing projects from origination to financial close and investing equity stakes in projects together with external partners. 

About the position 
You will support the team by identifying, analyzing and developing new value propositions for our solutions (engines, energy storage and hybrids) and conducting financial feasibility, project and business case modeling.

As an Analyst, you will: 

  • Support the sales organization with: (i) Technology comparison studies, (ii) feasibility and tariff studies, (iii) hybrid versus stand-alone analyses and (iv) market studies   
  • Conduct market and country analyses which support project and market development initiatives  
  • Conduct power system analyses together with the global modelling team and create market level value propositions, materials, and business proposals to target customers 
  • Support the market development action plans for selected countries to promote high renewable penetration and smart (flexible) power solutions 
  • Participate actively in front-line market development by identifying key stakeholders and engaging in customer dialogues and influencing 
  • Support our project development activities in Africa and Europe with feasibility analyses and financial modelling of independent power producer projects (IPP’s) 
  • Support project development teams with preparation of bid proposals, project development structuring and implementation, negotiating project agreements, and arranging project finance (debt and equity) 
  • Develop and maintain the financial models and feasibility calculation tools

To succeed in this role, you should hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in one of the following fields: Finance, Energy, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or another field that supports the task. A successful candidate will have a positive and proactive approach and demonstrate ownership and responsibility for driving their own work. The person we are looking for has excellent analytical skills, a good understanding of financial analysis, as well as advanced skills in MS tools. You are a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills, interest in the energy sector and willingness to travel.  
You need to be fluent in English, other language skills are considered an advantage. The position is suitable for a recently graduated candidate or a person with a few years’ experience. For candidates with more than a few years’ experience we can consider a Senior Analyst role.
