Wärtsilä Energy is leading the transition towards a 100% renewable energy future. Marketing & Communications plays a key role in creating awareness for Wärtsilä, building preference for its flexible power solutions & lifecycle services and increasing stakeholder engagement in key focus countries.

We are now looking for a Marketing & Communications Manager, Europe to strengthen the team.

The preferred location for this position is in Finland (Helsinki, Vaasa, Turku) with hybrid remote work possibilities, but other European locations can also be considered.

Main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and executing marketing and communications activities in Europe, with the goal of supporting Africa & Europe (AFEU) Area’s market development and sales targets.
  • Contribute to defining the marketing & communications strategy, including objectives, target groups, key messages, marcom activities, timeline and forecast, covering full scope of Wärtsilä Energy’s offering.
  • Based on the overall Energy Marketing & Communications goals and the AFEU marketing strategy, set measurable performance indicators for the planned marcom activities, and regularly follow-up on progress, adjusting your actions as relevant.
  • Identify and prioritise target groups in focus markets, and build customised messaging. Target groups typically include both customers (utilities, Independent Power Producers, industrial companies) as well as policy makers and regulators.
  • Create high quality targeted content which clearly communicates the value Wärtsilä brings to the target group. Localise global materials to fit the focus markets’ context.
  • Plan and execute integrated marketing and communications campaigns leveraging tactics like digital marketing, media relations, events and conferences
  • Support AFEU leaders and experts in becoming recognised thought leaders in their area of expertise.
  • Communicate and share success stories and new developments
  • Contribute to global marketing and communications initiatives by providing insights of area and stakeholder needs.
  • Propose forecast for marketing and communications activities and regularly follow up costs.
  • Track results and optimise actions along the way based on data, striving for maximum return on marketing investment.
  • Foster internal relationships to leverage Wärtsilä Energy organisation’s expertise, especially Growth & Development and AFEU Sales.

Requirements:

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Business/Economics/Marketing/Communications
  • Experience in international B2B marketing, communications or related work
  • Interest and knowledge in digital marketing
  • Experience of the energy industry and understanding of Wärtsilä’s energy offering
  • Interest and insights into the energy transition in AFEU
  • Conceptual thinking and creative mindset, storytelling and content creation skills.
  • Shows interest and easily adapts locally relevant marketing tactics, tools and platforms.
  • Skilled in leveraging partner network of creative and PR agencies, striving for high quality and effectiveness.
  • Customer minded, curious, enthusiastic, pragmatic 
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written (Finnish skills a plus)
