Our projects have had a significant impact on the lives of more than half a billion people around the World, and this is just the beginning of our mission. At Nortal, we combine best-in-class strategic consulting with software engineering, data, and design practices to achieve our vision of a seamless world. We are growing, the projects are getting larger – hence the search for a new Technical Project Manager.

How it is like to be a project manager at Nortal?

First, you’ll have significant clients; we operate both in the public and private sectors. If you are ready to learn and develop yourself in well-known companies in meaningful projects – this might be it! Your first project is at the core of our industrial client’s strategic business and growth plans.

Second, you can expect to have a certain freedom here. We trust our employees and their professionalism. You can mold and shape your own role and style of doing things. Part of our culture and DNA is that we don’t have narrow roles that we want you to fit into- we’d rather have you as you are with both your strengths and weaknesses. How you operate is up to you - results are what counts.

Third, your potential is acknowledged. You’ll be having a responsible role within our organization even without long miles behind you – we appreciate your eagerness to learn and develop. Your potential is acknowledged easily here at Nortal, since we are a rather small company in Finland (200 employees). Hence the good opportunities to impact your own path here. Globally we are larger (+1800 employees), and therefore we are a combination of smaller companies’ flexibility and ability to adapt quickly, but with larger company’s resources. Best in both, right?

Project, role, and responsibilities:

You’ll be starting with our steel manufacturing client, with whom we have had a long and good relationship. The aim of the project is to make our client the digital leader in the steel industry through new technological solutions. And if you have ever wondered what's the concrete benefit of AI and cloud technologies in practice – here you have it! You’ll be able to see how these technological solutions benefit the business.

You’d be the expert leading the customers' digitalization project for the implementation of the IT/OT integrations and their architecture. The integrations are usually the most crucial part in serving important data from the industrial automation and production systems to hybrid data platforms, where the data is most often being visualized in PowerBI or crunched by A.I., and as such used for optimizing manufacturing processes and for making important business decisions. This is an ongoing project, so you’ll be able to see the lifespan of the project and how things are evolving.

Half of your time is dedicated to leading one or more small Agile teams implementing these IT/OT integrations in our customers' projects. Your team is technically talented, so you’d have a great technical backup, and always someone from whom to ask for help if needed. Alongside being talented, the typical team member is packed with a good sense of humor, old proverbs, and an ambitious way of working.

The other half of your weekly time will be discussions with the stakeholders (client and other vendors). According to what you and the stakeholders decide; you plan the work, coordinate and communicate. Tools used in backlog management and documentation are in Azure DevOps, Jira and Confluence.

You have:
· A proactive attitude that gets stuff done – other than that we can teach!
Strong communication, coordination, and facilitation skills
· Eagerness to learn and develop yourself
· Earlier experience in working in the customer interface
· Understanding Agile ways of working (Scrum, SAFe, etc.)
· Ability to understand the big picture; able to prioritize and focus on essentials to execute
· Ability to manage your work and yourself
· You seek and present solutions - not problems
· Ability to take responsibility and feedback
· Experience in IT projects, interest in IT/OT and cloud solutions (Azure)
· Language skills: fluent in English and Finnish

Strong plus is earlier working experience in process industry, especially mining and metals. Also Microsoft SQL and other SQL-like databases and Fundamentals in Microsoft Azure would benefit you in this position.

Start: As soon as possible.
Work extent: Permanent employment contract
Location: Finland (we remote first policy - but your current location must be in Finland)

Our selection process is continuous and the advert may close before the recruitment process is completed if we have moved forward to the screening or interview phase.
