Be it energy harvesting and storage, sustainable use of resources, or fight against diseases, chemistry is central to solving many of present-day global challenges. Our vision at Tampere University (TAU) is that disruptive solutions to many global problems rely on the development of new molecules and materials and on in-depth understanding of their behaviour. Around these themes, TAU has decided to further strengthen its chemistry activities through tenure-track appointment in the field of photochemistry.

The position will be opened in the Chemistry & Advanced Materials (CAM) research cluster of the Materials Science and Environmental Engineering Unit of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at TAU. We focus on the themes of functional materials for light-driven technologies and solar energy, and synthesis of new compounds for, e.g., drug delivery and release, photodynamic therapies, and light-responsive materials. We are also part of the Finnish Flagship on Photonics Research and Innovation
