We are looking for a Lead Test Engineer with a proven track record to build up and lead quality assurance activities in the modern software development organization, to take over responsibilities of steering and overseeing quality assurance practices, organization and practices, implementing and improving common testing guidelines, managing test tool and framework preferences, and helping to bring testing in Elisa's Corporate Customer portal and CRM software development to the next level.

Your main tasks:

  • Leading the quality assurance on several development areas with value- and risk-based approach and close collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Transforming our software testing organization and quality assurance practices into agile development teams having ownership of quality assurance.
  • Developing our quality assurance processes to ensure validation of the deployment pipeline and release management; controlled technical changes into production, expected value creation; and even customer and business impact.
  • Hands-on approach in the efficient test management, for example: 1) What kind of testing should be utilized in different scenarios and environments? 2) What testing is done as part of development and what testing makes sense to have done outside of it? 3) Smart test automation management – What to automate and what not? How to keep automated tests up-to-date?
  • Prioritize, scope and plan quality assurance activities together with Business Owners, Product Owners, Production Managers and other experts. E.g. release schedules and available development specialists for quality assurance activities.
  • Collaboration with other area experts to align and build common best practices and developing these even further, and implementing these practices into our development teams
  • Analysis of test results, report founded bugs and triage right priorities.

What we expect from you:

  • Proven track record to build up and lead quality assurance activities in the modern agile software development organization. Thus, knowledge needed about DevOps, XP Engineering, Test-Driven Development, Continuous Deployment, Continuous Integration, etc.
  • Solid experience and willingness in leading, coaching and interacting with the people; developing quality assurance practices, ways of working and methods; and as well understanding impact of quality assurance as part of business value creation.
  • Great understanding of the quality assurance in its whole scope – not just testing perspective
  • Hands-on experience and understanding of modern testing practices and test automation tools and processes in agile software development, as well as experiences of CI/CD-systems and processes.
  • Eagerness to evolve quality assurance and test automation to the next level in co-operation with the stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience in creating and maintaining automated tests.
  • Knowledge of different test types and test design techniques, ability to choose best suitable ones for different situations
  • Knowledge of test planning, including test data management
  • Fluent English language skills

  • Key technologies: Playwright, Robot Framework, Browser/SeleniumLibrary, Javascript/TypeScript, Python, Github Actions, QWeb
  • Version control tools (Github)
  • Bug management tools (JIRA)
  • Platforms like Kubernetes, AWS and Salesforce

We expect that you have a solid experience in many of these technologies but we don't expect you to master every single one of it.

Our team is highly international, and therefore our primary working language is English. Most of our team is based in Helsinki, but like the rest of the elisians, we can work flexibly (in Finland).
