Aalto University has over EUR 300m of debt to finance its campus and real estate investments. Aalto University Treasury is responsible for the debt financing, cash and liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, financial risk management and bank relationships for the Aalto University Group, as well as the controlling of Aalto University Endowment. Aalto University Endowment invests in the financial markets and its assets are valued at approximately EUR 1.3bn, making it one of the largest university endowments in Continental Europe.

Aalto University Treasury team is looking for a student to join us as a Summer Trainee to work in Middle Office Controlling during the period of May 2023 to August 2023. If you are a self-driven and energetic individual with an eye for detail and ability to work independently, this might be just the opportunity for you!

Your role

As a Summer Trainee and a part of the Treasury-team you will work closely also with the Endowment-team.

Your tasks include:

• Post-trade controlling of endowment and treasury transactions

• Month-end financial reporting

• Investment risk controlling

• Monitoring of liquidity and bank balances

• Daily engagement with outsourced Treasury/Endowment back-office

What we value?

• Attention to detail

• Solid communication skills in English, ability to work in Finnish would be considered a plus

• Fluency in MS Excel and a good ability to learn new IT tools

• Relevant studies (in finance, accounting or similar)

• Knowledge of Python would be considered a plus, but is by no means a necessity
