Wärtsilä Energy Business is leading the transition towards a 100% renewable energy future. As Energy System Integrator, we understand, design, build and serve optimal power systems for future generations. Our offering includes ultra-flexible internal combustion engine-based power plants, hybridised power plants, energy storage & integration solutions, and gas-to-power systems.

Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a Manager, Market and Project Development for Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia ("Europe Region").

The preferred location for this position is Helsinki. You will report to General Manager, Market & Project Development, Europe and are open to travel within the Europe Region for approximately 25 to 50% of your time.

What will you be doing?

Market & Project Development are key functions in unlocking sales opportunities and implementing the Energy Business Strategy in the Europe Region. This requires you to develop market and influencing plans that develop credible tenders or projects and create a link to sales. You will also selectively support our Sales through the development of projects, either as a project development, investment or through financial structuring and support. You will also manage select regional market initiatives, area strategic actions and strategy. This will include the following:

· Drive the Europe Region's growth by selecting and developing markets for our solutions and services.

· Develop and execute the market and project development strategy and action plans for selected countries in the Europe Region for balancing and baseload solutions.

· Manage the making of market-specific and accurate power system analyses, meaningful power generation investment scenarios, market-level value propositions, and business proposals to target customers.

· Develop and execute market development, influencing plans and projects for niche applications such as Spinning Reserve optimisation, Battery Energy Storage Services, fast response technologies for grid Ancillary Services, Transmission Optimisation, and Congestion Management through flexible power solutions.

· Identify and prioritise key decision-makers from customers and stakeholders in selected target countries. Build networks and leverage them to support creating a link to sales.

· You will continuously interact with various external stakeholders, from policymakers and research institutes to key power industry companies. Lead stakeholder influencing actions to change their investment strategy in close cooperation with other Energy Business functions/areas.

· Drive change in strategy and short and long-term resource planning of utilities in target markets (typically 3–5-year time horizon).

· Identify opportunities and deliver concrete value to support sales teams in select countries to develop, invest or support the structure and finance of projects, including reaching successful financial close for the project

· Develop internal relationships to leverage the team output (Business Development, Area Sales, etc.), coordinate and synchronise activities with the Europe Region sales organisation

· Work with the Area Management Team to develop, deliver and monitor Area Strategy

You will shine in this role if you have:

· A Master's degree in Energy, Economics, or similar, and have five years of working experience in the power industry

· Comprehensive understanding of the energy sector, power generation markets and specifically deregulated electricity market design

· Understanding of power system and electricity market modelling, and value proposition development

· Excellent communication, influencing and public speaking skills

· Entrepreneurial attitude, goal-oriented with skills to develop solutions for the clients

· Multi-cultural sensitivity, ability to build relations and work in multi-cultural teams

· Strategic forward thinker, positive mindset and proactive way of working.

· Persuasive and Value-Based Selling competence

· Excellent command of spoken and written English. Finnish/Swedish fluency is preferred. Additional capability in languages spoken within the European Region is a plus.
