We are looking for a MSc thesis worker for a project investigating the dynamics of a converter dominated power transmission system. You will assess how the dynamics of a wide power transmission system change when large amounts of wind power are integrated into the system. You will especially focus on converter-driven stability and oscillations caused by wind farms. Oscillations caused by wind farms have been observed recently in real transmission systems and they may risk the stability of the system in some cases. You will use a PSCAD simulation model in your work.

The work will be done in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Aalto University, in collaboration with Fingrid (Finnish Transmission System Operator).  In the project, you can develop your skills in modeling, simulation and analysis of power systems. The project can be started as soon as possible, but not later than in June 2023. The salary for a master's thesis worker is around 2300 €/month and the contract is made for 6 months.
