The Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Music, Mind, Body and Brain (2022–2029; www.jyu.fi/mmbb) studies the cognitive, emotional, bodily and interactive experiences of music. More specifically, the CoE investigates how the experience of music changes across the life span and manifests itself in health and illness, as well as how music-based interventions can support learning, development, everyday well-being, and rehabilitation. The research focuses on elucidating the individual, situational, musical and psychological mechanisms that underlie the phenomena in question and explain the power of music. The MUSICONNECT project (2022–2027; www.jyu.fi/musiconnect), operating as part of the CoE, focuses particularly on musical experiences of youth from the perspectives of emotion regulation, embodiment, interaction, identity and well-being. The projects’ research is multidisciplinary and empirical, combining musicology, music education, music therapy, psychology, and computer science.
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher, who specialises in statistical analysis methods, particularly in relation to experimental designs and interventions. The main task of the postdoctoral researcher is to perform as an expert in the statistical analyses of various studies carried out in the CoE, and to participate in the planning and reporting of these studies. The post-doc is expected to work actively in cooperation with other researchers of the department, to apply for external research funding as well as to participate in other activities at the CoE and the scientific community. The researcher’s duties also include teaching and supervision at the department.
The selected applicant is expected to have a doctorate in one of the following fields: statistics, musicology, music education, music therapy, psychology, computer science, cognitive neuroscience or another related field. The applicant is expected to be capable of pursuing independent scientific work and have good cooperation skills.
