Research Assistant or Project Researcher




We seek a highly motivated research assistant or project researcher to join our core facility team at Turku Bioscience Centre. The selected candidate will implement sample preparation methods for for histological analyses, cytometry, and spatial omics analyses.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimizing histological and tissue sample preparation methods and supporting researchers in their use
Essential Skills
- Master’s degree (or soon to be) in Life Sciences or other relevant discipline
- Proven hands-on experience with basic molecular biology laboratory techniques
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English
Ideal skills
- Experience on preparation of histological samples and processing of human and mouse tissue samples
- Experience with flow cytometry
Period of Employment and Salary
The salary is determined by the collective agreement system of Finnish universities and will depend on the degree and qualifications of the applicant. Salaried positions in Finland automatically include payments to a pension fund, unemployment funds, an extensive occupational healthcare, affordable sports services and even a holiday allowance. This position belongs to the personnel group of teaching and research personnel.
The salary will be on average 2032 – 2200 eur/month for a Research Assistant and 2300 -2600 eur/month for a Project Researcher depending on the experience and qualifications of the applicant.
The start of employment is negotiable. The position is fixed-term until the end of 2024, with a possibility for extension. The position is subject to a six-month trial period.
