3-4 Postdoctoral Researchers for Sustainable Materials in (Energy, Health and Manufacturing)

We are looking for 3-4 Postdoctoral researchers in variety of fields related to research of sustainable materials in the fields of energy, health and manufacturing.
The tasks are fixed-term and the starting time of the positions are 01.06.2023, or based on mutual agreement, and the duration of the employment relationships are 2 years.
The postdoc positions relate to Profi7 – university profiling funding from Academy of Finland. The open positions are related to the area of SUSMAT, the goal of which is to enhance the design of sustainable materials and manufacturing with data-driven approaches to solve global energy, health, wellbeing and industrial production challenges. The end goal of the SUSMAT project is to realize a paradigm shift in experimental materials research and transfer this knowledge to the industry, accelerating the adoption of sustainable technology.
We have open positions in a large variety of topics, in multiple research groups across several departments of University of Turku:
- Neuromorphic processors and their materials (Prof. Petriina Paturi)
- Longevity of photosynthetic microbes in artificial biofilms producing chemicals/fuels (Prof. Yagut Allahverdiyeva-Rinne)
- Ammonia production by solid-state cyanobacterial cell factories (Prof. Yagut Allahverdiyeva-Rinne)
- Designing and fabrication of energy saving materials using artificial intelligence/materials informatics (Prof. Kalevi Kokko)
- Sustainable materials for biomedical sensing (Assoc. Prof. Emilia Peltola)
- Bioinspired and highly durable materials for flexible conducting surfaces (Asst. Prof. Vipul Sharma)
- Conductive coatings for photovoltaics with improved stability and recycling (Prof. Kati Miettunen)
- Integrating human expert knowledge into data-driven models for accelerating sustainable materials engineering (Asst. Prof. Milica Todorovic)
- Optimizing additive manufacturing experimental outcomes with AI-driven simulation tools (Asst. Prof. Milica Todorovic)
- Additive manufacturing of nano-scale metal structures for performance optimization (Prof. Antti Salminen)

Requirements
The positions require an active approach, diligence and cooperation skills, as well as experience in laboratory work (if applicable for the topic) and an excellent PhD degree in a field that supports the research topic. We also appreciate prior knowledge and interest in the relevant field, as well as earlier experience with research of sustainable materials or manufacturing in the intended field.
The qualification requirements of the positions are stated in the University of Turku rules of Procedure. A person selected for the post of postdoctoral researcher is required to have a doctoral degree and the ability to do independent scientific work as well as having the necessary teaching skills. The degree must be completed before the end of the application period.
Fluent oral and written communication skills in English are required in the positions.
The salaries are determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel (YPJ) when negotiating the employment contract. For a postdoctoral researcher, the salary is at levels 4-6 on the job demands chart where task specific salary component is between 2628,85 – 3549,72 eur/month. In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal work performance component is 6%–50% of the task specific salary component. The position is subject to six-month trial period.
