We are looking for
Postdoctoral Researchers in the area of Battery Materials Characterization and Recycling
We are looking for two highly motivated Postdoctoral Researchers to join research projects supported by the Academy of Finland. In this position, you will join multidisciplinary initiatives strategically designed to establish the scientific and engineering principles supporting the Circular Economy by combining knowledge on material sciences and process engineering.
Your role and goals
In Hyper-sphere, you will be responsible for developing characterization methods for battery materials after electrochemical treatments in order to establish the impact of pre-processing stages on their recycling efficiency.
In SmartCycling, you will carry out materials characterization and experimental validation of processes optimized through process simulation and machine learning.
Your experience and ambitions
We are looking for independent and highly motivated individuals with a Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, Recycling Engineering or similar fields. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of characterization techniques (scanning electron microscopy and/or automated mineralogy are particularly welcome), recycling processes and an understanding of the correlation between the intrinsic properties of materials and their recycling potential.
Excellence in scientific writing and publishing is expected, and good command of English is a necessary prerequisite. Knowledge of HSC-Sim® and other process simulation software is considered an asset.

The starting salary will be based on Aalto University´s recommended levels, increasing with a performance over time. The contract includes occupational health and social security benefits. The starting date is negotiable. The annual total workload of academic staff at Aalto University is 1 600 hours.
