We are looking for an innovative, scientifically orientated veterinarian to join Orion Pharma R&D, Bioimaging and Laboratory operations team in Turku.

Description of position

As a designated veterinarian, you will work on-site in Turku to provide veterinary care and to fulfill advisory duties relating to well-being and treatment of the animals as described in Finnish legislation and EU Directive 2010/63. There is also a possibility to be heavily involved in research in all our research focus areas. We value experience and deeper understanding of anesthesia and pain alleviation, pharmacology, pathology, and soft tissue surgery. You will work closely with a wide group of scientists, research associates and animal welfare personnel. Tasks and responsibilities included in the role can be modified based on your experience and interests.

Description of unit

Bioimaging and Laboratory Operations unit is part of Orion DMPK and Safety Sciences department with facilities located in Turku. We provide scientific and strategic expertise in the field of histology and in vivo imaging, laboratory maintenance and animal welfare. We work with and support both Orion therapy areas, Oncology and Pain, as well as Safety pharmacology, toxicology, Translational PK/PD and Animal Health.

Requirements

  • Licensed veterinarian, Finland (DVM)
  • Experience in drug discovery and/or laboratory animal field: successful completion of the laboratory animal course in the use of animals for scientific or educational purposes
  • Experience in soft tissue surgery, anesthesia, and pain alleviation
  • Deep understanding of experimental design and underlying scientific principles
  • Excellent networking, presentation, and communication skills in English and Finnish
  • Enthusiastic, innovative, and science-oriented mindset
