Product Management within Parts Services is a strategic function that operates through the network of stakeholders to maintain and improve the commercial performance of our products and services and to develop new lifecycle offerings. We are looking for an innovation professional to lead the build-up of business ideas, having a specific focus on 4-stroke engines, propulsion and auxiliary technical development. The success of future offering development growth is depending on the inflow of new ideas. Therefore the facilitation of idea source management and ability to connect ideas with strategies is a vital part of successful services business. 

The position is at the very heart of developing our future business and associates with a large network of stakeholders throughout the Marine Power organisation hence you need to make clear decisions about the strategic focus whilst moving from one domain to the other. 

Customers and Product Manager colleagues are imminent support of product strategy alignment and value creation development. Continuous improvement by means of analysing lesson learned reviews, will enable you to seek for development ideas.
 
As an Senior Manager, Innovation in Product Management you will manage creative process that encompasses the generation, development and communication of new thoughts and ideas, which become the basis of your innovation strategy. As a part of Marine Power Parts Services organization, you will be part of the journey of establishing and driving the development of the Business Unit striving it towards decarbonisation of marine industry.
 
The position reports to Director, Product Management & Technical Information and will be a member of Product Management & Technical Information management team. 

The primary location for this position would be Helsinki, Vaasa or Turku in Finland. Other Wärtsilä main locations are considered. 

Your main responsibilities are

• Owning the innovation management process in Parts Services Product Management
• The inflow of ideas, quantity and quality
• Managing the portfolio of ideas and related stakeholder communication 
• Promotion of innovation culture activities and participating/managing relevant innovation forums
• Defining and assessing the product development needs with Product Managers 
• Leading and facilitating discussion and methodologies related to the idea development growth
• Supporting Product Managers in business case creation upon idea scrutinization
• Seeking and understanding customer value drivers that are connected to Parts Services offering development
• Preparing material and presenting early-stage cases for decision making in relevant governance bodies
• Liaising with market research and sales teams to assess idea strategy fit
• Reviewing the current offering portfolio performance with Product Managers to seek for continuous improvement areas
• Conducting and initiating relevant market analysis to deepen knowledge of market, customers and competition 
• Supporting development of offering process to ensure value creation corresponding to customer expectations 
• Participating in continuous improvement of product management processes and tools 

Main requirements in this role are

• BSc, MSc or equivalent degree in engineering or economics
• Passion and drive for innovation
• Demonstrated performance on portfolio management 
• Excellent facilitation skills
• Marine business experience is seen as strong merit as it will help you to comprehend the customer values of different domains
• Analytical mindset and financial understanding 
• Previous experience from process and business case development 
• An emphatic generalist that can quickly jump from one domain to the other
• Good presentation and networking skills
• Ability to connect issues and simplify complex topics
• Goal orientation, persistence and possess the capacity to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams 
• Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities 
• Fluent spoken and written English 
• Willingness to travel occasionally
