We are now looking for a

Doctoral Researcher for process and LCA modeling of the production of sustainable transportation fuel

We are now looking for a Doctoral Researcher to study a new and innovative sustainable fuel production pathway including AspenPlus® based process modeling, LCA analysis and raw material resource assessment at Aalto University’s Energy Conversion and System research group. In this position you will have a chance to make an impact on production of new fuels from bio-waste using state of the art process modeling tools. Our technology is based on using solar driven fast pyrolysis, and upgrading the oil by solar electrolysis-based hydrogen.

Your role and goals

Your work in this research project will consist of broad literature review on sustainable sources of biowaste-based materials, modeling and optimization of the whole process chain and analyzing the life cycle impact of the new concept. This work is part of an ongoing cross-European collaboration. As part of your doctoral candidate duties, you will also gain experience on teaching and supervision of students.

Your experience and ambitions

We are looking for a passionate person that would have:

  • Master’s degree in chemical process engineering, modeling and design

  • Fundamentals of LCA methods and experience on some LCA analysis software.

  • Experience in AspenPlus©

  • Ability for independent work

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Fluency in English is required.
