We’re now looking for a Financial Controller to join our ambitious growth company and re-imagine the way music education works. As a Financial Controller you are a key player in the Finance team that is responsible for managing and overseeing accounting operations around the organization. 

We’re looking for a team member who not only has the skills and confidence to take on the day-to-day responsibilities independently, but also a professional who’s interested in driving things forward and developing our financial processes to a more efficient direction continuously. We trust you with autonomy and freedom from day one. 

As a part of the Finance team, you coordinate and direct the preparation of financial reports, which include regulatory and financial reporting, development of control policies and procedures. You’ll also operate as the main contact point for our external financial services.

What you will do

As a Financial Controller, you’re responsible for versatile financial reporting tasks, and you’ll also have the opportunity to shape what the financial processes at Yousician look like. Your day-to-day tasks include:

• Managing all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition with external financial services.
• Coordinating, directing and supporting the preparation of the monthly and yearly closing, as well as auditing.
• Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements with external financial services.
• Coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting.
• Researching technical accounting issues for compliance.
• Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings with external financial services.
• Developing and documenting accounting/financial controlling processes and policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

What you need to succeed

• We’re looking for a finance professional with a positive attitude and independent, collaborative and goal-oriented working style.
• Above all, we’re looking for a team player, who enjoys working and driving things forward in a team environment. We value the desire to be involved in developing processes towards a more efficient direction.
• You have a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economy or related field
• 5+ years of experience in similar role or, for example, auditing
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles, preferably FAS
• We also consider previous experience in NetSuite a plus, and value basic understanding of transfer prices and FX
• Fluency in both Finnish and English
