Are you passionate about data-driven decision making?

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our growing 3-person Global Business Intelligence & Analytics team under Global Finance & Analytics function in Outsourcing business. Our team’s purpose is to lead the development of business intelligence and analytics solutions for all the countries of our business.

Our team has built its BI foundation on top of Microsoft platform with Azure and PowerBI (incl. Data Lake, Data Factory, SQL DB and PowerBI). From technical perspective our team has full responsibility for global PowerBI development – everything is done in-house. While our external data engineer team technically owns the maintenance and development of Azure Data Factory data pipelines and the SQL database, we handle a significant portion of development and maintenance in-house, including both simple and complex SQL solutions. We mainly utilize the external DE team for the most complex data pipelines and to provide assistance during peak demand periods. Our team also has full ownership of deciding and designing the requirements of external DE team’s technical work to fulfill our end-users needs.

In addition, we act as both business and technical partners for decision-makers and key BI users, guiding them with effective communication and expertise in solution design. Our commitment extends to ensuring the successful implementation of solutions for our end-users.

This will be a key role in the selected content areas, focus being on business data. In the future we expect the role to be evolving along the business and the field of business intelligence and analytics – we want to be curious learners who see technical and business related changes as opportunities (e.g. field of machine learning). Curiosity and capability to learn is what we value the most.

What will you be doing

You will be responsible for

• developing and maintaining selected PowerBI reports and models with the focus on business data.
• developing simple to complex SQL solutions based on your current skills with the willingness to learn on the job.
• guiding data engineer team to develop and maintain selected SQL database entities and Azure Data Factory data pipelines.
• training and supporting country BI key users and end-users.
• being a BI tech and business partner to different business stakeholders. For example when designing a new BI/analytics solution we appreciate a proactive role both in technical design and business benefits.
• participating in selected new areas that are not mentioned above (e.g. field of machine learning).

With these strengths you are one step ahead

• We appreciate relevant experience, but we especially value curiosity and capacity to learn. Analytical thinking and the right attitude will help you succeed.
• You have experience in designing and developing applications with BI tools, preferably with PowerBI (from data modeling to visualizations).
• Your SQL skills are at minimum on a level that you have used SQL for basic querying. Advantage is if your SQL skills extend to developing simple to complex solutions. SQL is a tool we use daily, at least for querying.
• Python knowledge or willingness to learn is a plus. This skill is not needed or used on a daily basis.
• You get your drive and motivation from developing the data-driven decision making by giving your contribution from technology and business point of view.
• You have a relevant academic degree.

As a person, you are a proactive team player but can also take full ownership of individual work. You can prioritize your tasks and manage your time efficiently. You are a problem solver who understands big picture but is not afraid to dig into details. You like a tiny bit of humor in between our problem solving. You have good capabilities to communicate in matrix environment and you are able to work fluently in both spoken and written English and Finnish.
