Voyage Services Simulation and E-learning product services a complex network of training providers in the commercial and naval market. Navigation and technological simulation solutions help the industry to close competence gaps, attract and prepare people for a more digitised, tech savvy and greener future of shipping.

As the role of Product Lead Engine & Cargo Simulators, you will be responsible for our TECHSIM simulator product, designed for training marine engineers and personnel involved in cargo and bunkering operations but also for advanced R&D applications where real time simulation is used to find ways towards decarbonisation. The role includes managing the product throughout the Product Lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product roadmap, and working closely with R&D, to deliver winning products and solutions that will achieve the desired growth. As a part of this role, we can guarantee you a very dynamic environment with awesome people. 

The position is preferrably located in one of our Wärtsilä Offices in Finland (Vaasa, Helsinki,Turku) but Wärtsilä locations within European timezone can also be considered. This is a permanent position.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the TECHSIM product vision.
  • Manage the TECHSIM development backlog.
  • Coordinate synergy work with the wider Wärtsilä R&D organisation and Wärtsilä Land and Sea Academy.
  • Provide functional testing of product during the development lifecycle.
  • Provide expertise support in complex customer support cases.
  • Prepare training and marketing material in collaboration with respective functions.
  • Provide Sales and Technical Training for new products and new releases.

Skills and experience:

You have a background in marine engineering, preferably as engineer onboard SOLAS vessels. Experience of automation and control systems, alternative fuels and delivering training in any of these fields will be of great value for this role.

You as a person has good communication skills, a business mindset with an interest to identify and solve customers’ pain points and business needs. You also have good interpersonal skills allowing you to have creative and efficient cross-function communication and teamwork.
