We are looking for a Functional Safety Manager to Project Engineering in Wärtsilä Energy Business. The Functional Safety Manager will manage the functional safety discipline in both power plant development and customer delivery projects, starting from supporting sales activities until warranty end. This position will be reporting to Manager, Process Engineering & Safety.

Preferable location for this position is Vaasa, Finland. Other Wärtsilä locations in Europe can be considered.

Responsibilities:

• Safeguard that safety in design are executed according to contract specifications and design directives as a member of a project team
• Participate in negotiations with customer and authorities regarding functional safety
• Make purchase specifications for safety studies and act as a supervisor for functional safety to engineering partners and consultants 
• Co-operate functional safety with the HSE team 
• Guide project organization how to comply to functional safety standards.
• Co-ordinate the functional safety design between sub-suppliers and follow-up of the delivery 
• Support our site team during installation and commissioning 
• Give feedback regarding technical solutions and complying of standards
• Developing the way of working for functional safety in company
• Personally provide leadership, counsel, and technical assistance to Technology department in the field of Functional safety management to attain the safety targets.
• Writing and maintaining effective safety philosophies and safety procedures

Requirements:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering
• Knowledge of functional safety and standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and IEC 15504
• Minimum 3 years of experience of automation engineering 
• Being self-going and motivated to learn and grow professionally
• Good communication, negotiations and team working skills
• Willingness to travel as well as ability to understand and work with diverse cultures
• Good written and oral skills in English
• Capability to efficiently produce technical documents in English.
• Other earlier safety experience such as HSE, process safety etc. is seen as a benefit
