We are now looking for an experienced Competence Management professional to drive and develop the Wärtsilä Competence Management Framework.

Position Description:

To strategically manage and develop our human capital, we are creating a new role for a Competence Management Expert. As Competence Management Expert you play a significant role in designing and implementing a comprehensive Competence Management Framework tailored to the needs of our organisation. 

This position is permanent, and the preferable location is the United Kingdom or Finland, but other locations are considered as well.

In this role, you will:  

  • Spearhead the establishment of our Competence Management Framework. 
  • Actively liaise with other people processes, leveraging competence management to enhance and align with learning & development, workforce planning, recruitment performance management, and succession planning. 
  • Collaborate closely with Business HR, HR CoEs, HR TECH, and key stakeholders to gather insights and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
  • Utilize Existing Elements: Leverage ongoing job architecture work and other existing components to integrate seamlessly with the competence management framework. 
  • Support the technical implementation of the Competence Management Framework in SuccessFactors and CornerStone. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Establish mechanisms for ongoing evaluation and enhancement of the competence management framework  


We expect you to have:

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing competence management frameworks. Familiarity with job architecture work is highly desirable
  • Experience of supporting the technical implementation of competence management systems in HCM and LMS platforms, particularly SuccessFactors and CornerStone
  • Master´s degree or equivalent and a demonstrated ability to think innovatively and contribute to the development of new and effective HR practices
