Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions RDE (R&D and Engineering), Automation & Controls is looking for an Engine Automation Technical Lead for our embedded automation system. Position information:

This is a permanent position and the location for this position is Vaasa or Turku, Finland. We also offer possibilities for hybrid work.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead our engine to automation development, including networking, process data communication, system integration, low-level software and device configuration 
  • Define technology roadmaps for engine automation in close collaboration with tech leads for other areas
  • Work with Product Owners and Architects to clarify product development roadmaps
  • Coach technology experts and teams in the technology area
  • Acquire advanced knowledge and follow global development trends in the technology area
  • Participate in the planning of Agile release train development deliveries and scope
  • Provide advanced technical expertise within Research and Development organisations

Required skills for this position:

  • University degree in Automation or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership of automation development (for combustion engines will be considered a strength).
  • 10+ years of experience in the field of automation.
  • Excellent teamwork, coaching and communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience in developing software for real-time embedded systems using C programming
  • Competence in the following areas is seen as a benefit:
    • CI tools such as Atlassian
    • Experience in Matlab/Simulink 
  • Creating digital twins, Edge and cloud-based systems 
  • Fluency in verbal and written English, our everyday work language is English
