Join Wärtsilä Voyage, a leading technology company in the Marine and Energy markets, on a journey towards a cleaner, more sustainable future. We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join us in our mission of continuously boosting our R&D output. You will play a critical role in shaping the deployment, automation, and infrastructure for our products and customer-facing projects. Position information:

This is a permanent position and the location is Helsinki, Finland.

We act globally, from the Americas to Europe, Singapore, and Australia. We're looking for individuals who can work independently when required and communicate asynchronously between sites. In practice, this means excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the DevOps practices of our R&D organisation, focusing on different types of products
  • Lead and aid in designing software architecture centred around microservices, deployment, containerisation, integrations to systems in the marine ecosystem and solutions that will scale, and adapt to business needs both on the cloud and on-prem
  • Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and methodologies to propose benefits and costs to decision-makers and watch as theory becomes practice
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams through Agile methodologies to design and implement solutions for complex maritime challenges
  • Mentor the organization on DevOps practices, sharing your knowledge and ensuring that your own knowledge propagates throughout the organisation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps role
  • DevOps experience, with a strong focus on Azure, GitHub Actions, Jenkins and Azure Pipelines, Azure DevOps Repos and Pipelines, GitHub, Windows Server, Powershell, Docker, and Bicept. Additionally, integration testing in the pipeline will be implemented
  • Any of the following experience is considered a plus: GCP, AWS, BitBucket, VMWare Websphere, Linux, Bash, OpenStack/Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, ELK stack, Kafka, MongoDB, MSSQL and SQL
  • The ability to communicate abstract concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience in the maritime industry, particularly in port operations or maritime logistics, would be highly beneficial. Knowledge of supply chain and logistical industry practices is also advantageous
  • Experience with designing and configuring deployments for both on-premises and Azure cloud deployments, including infrastructure setup, networking configurations, security protocols, and deployment strategies, is considered a significant plus
