WithSecure is on the hunt for an enthusiastic machine learning engineer who is eager to create and implement machine learning models aimed at identifying the strategies, methods, and practices employed in cyber attacks. In this capacity, you will work closely with security researchers to make decisions on architectural design and feature processing, and with developers on the productization process to ensure your models are both accessible and efficient on a large scale. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of data sources, including sample feeds, upstream telemetry, and network-related data. This role demands a dedication to familiarize yourself deeply with our current systems, and a significant level of autonomy.

Reporting directly to the Head of Threat Detection, you will be joining an active team with an expanding remit, so you will be able to help shape the future direction of the team as well as to grow with it and benefit from the opportunities that presents. As a team we collaborate with almost every part of the wider WithSecure business, so there is an opportunity to meet and learn from a wide range of experienced security professionals.

One of the key differentiators at WithSecure for Threat Detection is our focus on machine-assisted detection and triage. We firmly believe in using the right tool for the job and have a highly multidisciplinary approach. You will work closely with world-class endpoint security specialists, artificial intelligence experts and engineers to tackle the specifics of detection scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the journey of machine learning and AI-powered detection features from inception to deployment, and manage their lifecycle ensuring that these features continue to perform effectively based on defined criteria.
• Significantly contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our data science tools, operating within the company’s established framework.

What are we looking for?

• Strong Python software development skills. Experience with other languages such as Java is a plus.
• Experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Expertise in API development.
• Familiarity with common machine learning frameworks such as sklearn, pytorch, or tensorflow.
• Familiarity with Spark or PySpark.
• Strong English written and verbal skills. Inclination to produce quality documentation.
• Inclination to develop a strong understand of complex systems from scratch.
