InstituteQ is a national collaboration founded by Aalto University, University of Helsinki and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, jointly promoting development of quantum science and technology in Finland. Its goal is to raise the readiness of Finnish society for the disruptive potential and implications quantum technologies will have for society and the economy at large. By teaming up expertise and resources, the institute aims to carry, implement, and mutually benefit from front line research, education, innovations, and infrastructures, forming the competitive edge in the quantum era.
Finnish Quantum Flagship (2024-2031) is a major national project promoted by InstituteQ. It implements several cutting-edge research programs in well-defined areas that aim to boost the emergence of innovations and businesses, and targeted ecosystem development actions. Flagship partners beyond InstituteQ are University of Jyväskylä, Tampere University, University of Oulu, and CSC IT Center for Science.

Corporate Relations Manager for Quantum Technology
Are you passionate about quantum technologies and business development?
We are seeking a far-sighted, proactive and organized professional to join our dynamic community and be a key contributor in Quantum Technology related industry ecosystem development.
Your role and goals
In this role, you will develop and coordinate innovation, business, and industry collaboration activities of the Finnish Quantum Flagship (FQF) and InstituteQ. You will work in close collaboration with your peers at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and University of Helsinki, as well as other Finnish universities involved in FQF. You will support FQF / InstituteQ by enhancing services for industry and business development. In particular, you will focus on facilitating new breakthrough innovations arising from research by engaging in an active dialogue with the researchers and the industry varying from multinational corporations to SMEs and start-ups.
The Finnish Quantum Flagship is part of the Academy of Finland’s Flagship program, and one of the largest Finnish research investments supporting the formation and stimulation of the quantum technology industry. The activities of FQF involve 40 research groups working on new materials, devices, technologies, and solutions. As the Corporate Relations Manager, you will become an integral part of the community and work as a close partner of the flagship / institute management team.
You will be positioned in Aalto’s Corporate Relations team that will support your operation, while strategic and practical guidance will be provided by the FQF and InstituteQ leadership. You will mainly focus on the activities of flagship, but also on progressing the industry collaborations in the MEC’s 1000 new doctoral students initiative where Aalto has 40 quantum technology students. You will also work closely with other Aalto’s major quantum technology research, development and innovation initiatives. Work is carried out with a dynamic, pre-emptive approach in an open and supportive atmosphere.
In this task, you will use your strong experience from both business and academia. You are a goal-oriented, hands-on person, actively expanding your networks and keeping them engaged and productive for the common good. You execute tasks effectively from start to finish. You are able to use your substance knowledge to plan and organize stakeholder meetings and workshops, supporting the process of taking research findings towards industrial implementation, together with industrial partners. You have the ability to inspire and engage people with different backgrounds also without formal authority and you will remain in control of the matters in all situations. To be successful, you need a positive and proactive attitude towards the task at hand and towards people, combined with pragmatism and a good sense of humor.
To succeed in this role you need:
- M.Sc or Ph.D or long R&D experience, preferably subject matter expertise in quantum technologies or basic semiconductor industry
- Experience of business development activities with technology industry, startups and larger corporates
- Experience of partner/account management of technology companies
- Fluency in English and preferably fluency in Finnish
- Knowledge of relevant funding instruments and experience in research project preparation (e.g. Business Finland, EU)
- Excellent organizational and collaborative skills, as well as interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- An open mind for various work tasks like events arrangements
- Experience of using CRM and doing co-marketing activities with industry partners
