Research Assistant Or Master Thesis Worker On Battery Energy Storage Regeneration And Trading Optimization

We are seeking one or more highly motivated and talented Research Assistants or Master Thesis Workers to join our team and contribute to an ongoing strategic research project.
Your role and goals
The candidate(s) will work on a project where they will be involved in any tasks as follows:
investigate what technology is available in the market, technical capabilities and limitations for enabling battery energy storage regeneration to participate in demand response market investigate optimization of battery energy storage demand response.
The candidates will also work on developing a proof of concept, develop accurate battery storage models accounting for degradation–train, test, finetune this proof of concept utilizing available data.
While the project considers optimization based on classical AI / Machine Learning approaches is within scope, the research on hybrid quantum-classical AI / ML for optimization in energy market participation will be of substantial interest.
The candidate will work together with more senior researchers and have the opportunity to interact with relevant industries involved, giving them a chance to build crucial connections and networking for their future careers.
Your experience and ambitions
You are enrolled at Aalto University as a Master degree student who studies computer science, advanced energy systems, electrical/electronic engineering, or related areas. For the optimization task, background or experience in quantum AI/ machine learning is of significant interest.
We expect candidates to have background and interest in artificial intelligence. The candidate shall have the necessary background to develop proof of concept, hence experience in software development (e.g., Python) is essential.
A good proficiency in English is required to work in this position. We will start screening candidates as soon as possible as the project is already ongoing.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are paramount, combined with effective communication, good teamwork and positive collaboration attitude. Prior relevant industrial or research experience, or published papers in related domains is a significant plus.

Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities. The salary for a Research Assistant (master student level, BSc required) is 2250 EUR/month, while for master thesis worker it is 2500 EUR/month.
