You’ll join a team building a production-grade, real-time data infrastructure to power operational monitoring, analytics, and potentially ML applications in the chemical industry. This role sits at the intersection of streaming data, IoT, and scalable engineering, with flexibility to explore new tech and influence architecture decisions.

Required qualifications in this role

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering,Data Engineer or a related field
  • Solid experience in stream processing frameworks, preferably Apache Flink, and developing production grade stream & batch processing application with Java/Scala and Python.
  • Experience in designed data processing systems that combine batch and streamprocessing, e.g. initial bootstrapping, reprocessing, historical corrections & backfilling, and ad-hoc analysis
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, event-time processing, and dealing with real-world data issues like late-arriving data, data-gaps, device failures, noise, calibration, drift, corrupted streams, etc.
  • Building fault-tolerant, stateful data processing pipelines that manage large state efficiently
  • Solid knowledge of time-series databases like Timescale dB and experience in using them for storing high-ingest rate sensor data optimizing both ingestion and query performance.
  • Experience in integrating processing systems with Apache Kafka, time-series databases, MQTT or similar message brokers and storage systems
  • Working knowledge of containerized development and Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools
  • Ability to build data pipeline observability including metrics, logging, and error alerting.
  • Good language skills in English (spoken and written); Finnish language skills are considered an advantage

Knowledge which we appreciate in the future but not mandatory

  • Competence in building end-to-end stream processing pipelines that are integrated with backend services with attention to access controls and data security
  • Experience in building APIs and business logic for job control endpoints, result APIs, and pipeline configuration interfaces, including implementation of rolebsaed access rights (RBAC) and secure data workflows.
  • Understanding ML/AI use cases for time-series or sensor data and applying ML/AI on time series data, such as data discovery, anomaly detection, forecasting, and predictive models
  • Familiarity in building quality monitoring into data processing pipelines, e.g. outof-bound values, stuck-values, calibration drift, etc.)
  • Familiarity in implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment
  • Cybersecurity knowledge and best practices

Other technical skills which are an advantage but not mandatory

  • Experience in working with industrial process data or working with IoT systems

As a person, you are proactive, technically skilled and take initiative. You also have strong problem-solving skills to solve problems and work in a diverse team and see solutions rather than problems.

You can be located anywhere in Finland. We expect you to be prepared to visit the client regularly in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

The selection for the position will be made by our client. Please send us your CV and salary request promptly, but no later than Monday, August 25, 2025. Please ensure that your CV clearly describes the skills and experience sought in this advertisement and separately outlines your employer and project history.
