Wärtsilä Energy’s Strategy & Business Intelligence team is seeking an on-call trainee to explore this dynamic industry and support the team in market intelligence, data analytics, and strategic analysis. A strong interest in the energy industry, business, and market analytics is essential for this role.
The On-Call Trainee position offers versatile learning opportunities alongside your university studies. It is a temporary, part-time role with a maximum working time of 25 hours per week. The trainee period runs from 1 October 2025 to 30 April 2026. Applicants must be full-time university students pursuing a degree. The preferred location is Wärtsilä’s headquarters in Helsinki, Finland, although other Wärtsilä locations in similar time zones can be considered. The person who is selected for this role needs to be a full-time student studying for a degree in Finland.
As an on-call trainee, you will support the team in:
- Analysing business and market data to identify insights that support data-driven strategic decision-making
- Monitoring and analysing developments in the external business environment, energy industry, various markets and customer segments, and the competitive landscape
- Collaborating across business units to understand analytical needs as well as strategic data availability and data requirements within the Energy business
- Formulating and advancing strategic initiatives
- Developing and maintaining selected business intelligence dashboards, tools, and reports
You will thrive in this role if:

- You have a basic understanding of the roles of different power generation technologies
- You enjoy working with business data and quantitative strategic analysis

- You like breaking down complex phenomena into clear, communicable questions and answers
- You are eager to explore and present your own ideas and insights
- You are pursuing a degree in Finance, Data Science, Economics, Energy, Industrial Engineering, or another relevant field
- You are fluent in spoken and written English
