We are looking for a Performance Engineer with a main responsibility in Research Engine Testing. The location for this position is Vaasa, Finland.
  
Your role and responsibilities:  
 
As a Performance Engineer your work will include planning, preparing, and performing research engine tests, followed by post-processing and analysis of the measurement data, including communication of the outcome. You will work primarily with a multi-cylinder research engine, as well as occasionally with other types of combustion rigs, such as rapid compression expansion machine and optical spray combustion chamber, to compliment observed experimental trends.
You’ll be working as a part of the Advanced Concepts team developing combustion systems and solutions for sustainable fuels aiming at decreasing the carbon footprint of large bore medium speed engines in the marine and power generation sectors. The work is coordinated by dedicated research and technology development projects in close collaboration with other ICE expertise areas within Engines R&D and colleagues from the laboratory.
 
Requirements for the position: 
- PhD or MSc degree in Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines or related relevant field
- Documented experience from experimental ICE testing and performance analysis
- Experience of 0/1D simulations, RSM and DOE tools
- Good understanding of combustion, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
- Good understanding of engine controls and turbocharging
